Tasked with upgrading a live retail environment over a 20-week period, IDB worked meticulously to meet tight time frames while maintaining full operational functionality for retailers and shoppers. “We did a lot of the work outside of hours, between 6pm and 10am, so we didn’t interrupt mall operations,” Christopher says. The scope included a complete upgrade of the accessibility ramp, entrance upgrades, toilet block renovations, and concourse ceiling and furniture enhancements. One of the key design briefs was to elevate the overall look and feel of the mall to align more closely with premium outlets like Manawa Bay Outlet Centre. This included the addition of bespoke lighting in the ‘lux’ area of the mall, home to retailers such as Coach. Despite a challenging delivery timeline – especially for a feature lighting component imported from Australia – IDB brought the project in on time and on budget. “The delivery went to programme,” Christopher says. “The client was happy with the outcome, and the product was good.” IDB’s values – adaptability, trustworthiness, transparency, and a sharp focus on time and cost – are clearly evident in how it operates.
