Tekton Construction REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Tekton Construction Group Ltd is currently constructing the new Kahawai Point Village Centre, the heart of the Kahawai Point residential subdivision. This inspired coastal community, developed by KPDL, will feature 800 homes delivered in four stages, creating a vibrant neighbourhood on the Glenbrook coastline. Positioned between the picturesque Taihiki and Waiuku Rivers, Kahawai Point is just an hour south of Auckland, 15 minutes from Waiuku, and 20 minutes from Pukekohe. The development brings together some of Auckland’s top builders, including Tekton Construction Group Ltd, to deliver quality builds in a thoughtfully planned coastal setting. Kahawai Point is already home to a thriving community of around 700 residents enjoying an idyllic coastal lifestyle. Over the next decade, the population is expected to grow to approximately 2400 as the development continues to expand. The new Kahawai Point Village Centre will feature a sleek, modern, black minimalist design, enhanced by a striking Māori motif created in collaboration with the local iwi, which runs the length of the building. The centre will also include an enclosed plaza and a dedicated car park, all set within a 27-hectare site. The anchor tenant, occupying approximately a quarter of the centre, will be Paddock to Pantry – a high-end grocery store known for its restaurant-quality meats, fresh produce, artisan deli items, and exceptional coffee. A much-loved destination, it will bring both convenience and quality to the heart of the growing Kahawai Point community. Tekton Construction Group Ltd, the company behind the Kahawai Point Village Centre, specialises in commercial, light industrial, and warehousing construction. Services include the delivery of commercial buildings, warehouses, farm and implement sheds, engineering workshops, and residential shed homes. Originally established in 2008 as Core Steel Buildings Franklin Ltd, the company is currently rebranding to Tekton Construction Group Ltd to reflect its broader capabilities. Based in the Auckland, Franklin, and North Waikato regions, Tekton is powered by a 16-strong team across sales, architectural design, quantity surveying, construction, and administration. “We specialise in new builds. We specialise in turnkey packages for clients to move into, from the concept stage, full design, to construction, to exterior landscaping,” says Tekton Construction Group director, and sales and technical build advisor Karl Lipscombe. Specialising in Coresteel builds, Tekton Construction provides a comprehensive, endto-end construction solution covering design, engineering, manufacturing, and construction all under one roof. The company utilises Coresteel’s innovative steel structural systems, including the Bracketless Portal System and DonoBeam, which allow for greater design flexibility and construction efficiency, without compromising structural strength. By streamlining the entire process, Tekton simplifies project delivery – reducing the need for multiple suppliers, and ensuring a smoother, faster build from concept to completion. Karl reflects on what makes Tekton Construction Group unique: “As we are partnered with Core Steel Buildings, we get access to their design team and engineers. Their in-house team helps control the construction timeline and provides a one- stop-shop for our customers. This makes us very efficient and gives us access to a lot of expertise.” Tekton Construction’s build of the Kahawai Point Village Centre is well underway. With site excavation and groundworks complete, the fill placed, and the concrete poured, the team is now progressing through stage two – laying the remaining foundations and concrete flooring. Tekton is also managing the full internal commercial fit-out, coordinating subcontractors for specialised installations, such as freezers and display cabinets. The Village Centre’s anchor tenant, Paddock to Pantry, will provide a much-needed local grocery store and café. Designed with an open-plan layout, the centre also has capacity for future retail tenancies and includes a flexible covered plaza that can accommodate a mobile coffee trailer, bringing added vibrancy to the space.
